shaping the acoustics of the spaces
once the room was plastered and painted, the shaping of the acoustics began in earnest with the stretching and mounting of the fabric, which was custom ordered in the united states. this was a tricky job no one on the team had done before, and required experimentation in order to look good as well as do its job acoustically. it turned out great in the end, but it was quite a slog to get the fabric samples, determine what shade and how much was needed, decide on the framing technique (rails and their custom tools v stapling), and so on. looking back, it was entirely worth it, as was the long decision, ordering, and shaping process for what ended up being the white vicoustic diffusers, placed in slightly unorthodox configurations around the rooms. the overall goal was to create a dry sound in the room, so that one hears the ambience of the recording from the speakers, while the hall is designed to have a more natural, slightly longer reverberation. this can be fine-tuned by changing the panels on the wall, as well as mobile bass traps. a lot of work & resources… and totally worth it! stop by sometime, and you’ll see and hear what i mean.
