the piper at the gates of dawn

at the same time, micheline and i decided to go ahead with renovating the control room, aka the erstwhile recording room. one of the main challenges here was the extensive plumbing and general piping of all stripes found everywhere. other large tasks included tearing down another four walls (three were already removed in 2011), including two load bearing ones. this necessitated pulling in three steel support beams, together with a fourth support for the new control room window. tearing out and replacing, capping, and/or rerouting all the old pipes and wiring was quite a project, reaching all the way to new electrical mains and  a modern plumbing system (our house was built in 1941). the reward is already a killer view into the recording room from an elevated position, as well as much more space to stretch out (480 sq ft/45 sqm).
